Special Strategy Session on the Ontario Election
This month, we will keep our regular business as short as possible, and focus on co-ordinating our efforts for the June 12 provincial election.
We're going to need to full strength of our unions in Waterloo Region to help prevent a Tim Hudak government! Tim Hudak is not being shy about what he intends to do if he becomes Premier of Ontario: last Friday, he outlined a plan to eliminate 100,000 public sector jobs. And his vision for Ontario's economy is quite clearly based on a strategy of reducing worker wages and taxes that pay for public services.
We know labour is united in our desire to #StopHudak. Now we need to make sure our unions' resources don't cancel each other out. On Tuesday, we will have a riding-by-riding discussion of which candidates we will support in each race. Please encourage the decision-makers in your union to attend Tuesday's meeting.
We'll also have an opportunity to discuss last week's CLC Convention, which has resulted in a new President for the Canadian Labour Congress.
