At our Labour Council meeting on April 8th, we received a presentation on a new campaign to recognize employers in Waterloo Region who pay their employees a living wage.
Several organizations - including both Social Planning Councils, the Mennonite Central Committee of Ontario, and the Mennonite Savings and Credit Union, have provided the campaign with seed funding to hire a co-ordinator and start the process of building a recognition program. Labour unions are now being asked to contribute to the project to enable it to succeed.
Please consider taking a proposal to your union Local's Executive to consider supporting this project. The goal is to raise $6,000 from unions.
