In addition to all our regular reports at this month's meeting, we've lined up some presentations that you will be interested to hear, including:
- Karen Maleka of SEIU Healthcare (Local 1), who is one of 4,500 Personal Support Workers who went on strike for two weeks just before Christmas - Karen will tell us about the issues that motivated their members to go on strike, and where things stand now that their contract has been referred to binding arbitration
- a representative of Local 560 of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, who will tell us about the national fightback against Canada Post's plans to end home delivery service and lay off over 5,000 workers
- a presentation by the editor of The Cord Community Edition on opportunities for labour to get more stories in it!
Remember, you don't have to be a delegate or even a union member to attend Labour Council meetings: all are welcome!
Note that this month's meeting is at a different location! Call the office to arrange rides, as this location is not on a GRT bus route.
