Temp Job Posting: United Way-Labour representative

The United Way of Kitchener-Waterloo and Area is hiring a temporary "Resource Mobilization Associate - Labour" for a four-month contract. The person in this position plays an important role in working with unions and union members during the annual United Way campaign, and provides a Labour movement perspective to United Way’s work throughout the year. Waterloo Regional Council of Union Retirees

The Waterloo Regional Council of Union Retirees is asking for all Labor Council affiliates to consider affiliating to the WRCUR, or consider a donation to help support the work they do. These members are no longer working full-time jobs, and are heavily active in campaigns and political work in the labour movement. 2015 Labour Activism in Waterloo Region

2015 was a busy and successful year in labour activism in Waterloo Region. Our Labour Council, representing 35 unions and 26,000 members, led solidarity actions for unions in tough bargaining situations, mobilized members to participate in the federal election, led advocacy efforts at municipal councils, and much more.

Draft Changes to Our By-Laws

Over the past year, a small group of delegates on our By-Laws and Resolutions Committee has spent a great number of hours reviewing our By-Laws and the new model by-laws from the CLC. Last week, they presented a number of proposed by-law changes to the Executive, and the Executive decided to share the changes with delegates and affiliates and ask for feedback on the proposals.
